In the new scheme of Civil Services (Mains) Examination from the year 2013, there will be a total of 7 written papers for all in the following manner:1 paper (300 marks) on Essay & English Comprehension & English Précis, 4 papers (250 marks each) on common-compulsory themes of General Studies, 2 papers (of 20 marks each) on 1 Optional subject.Total Marks = 1800 marksHowever, a candidate can opt for the literatures of a language, (from the group of optional subjects) as an optional subject, only if the candidate has graduated in the literature of that particular language as the main subject}.
